Commissioned by ESCAP, the regional development arm of the United Nations for Asia and the Pacific, this study examines current policies toward the establishment of inland logistic centers and dry ports through the analysis of existing trends in supply chain management. Based upon the results of the 2003 Almaty Programme of Action as well as the 2006 Ministerial Conference held in Busan, Korea, this report offers a step-by-step plan to evaluate current practices in seaports, industrial clusters and existing inland logistic centers before making policy recommendations to specific countries. These conclusions are designed so that policymakers in government and industry can view the raw data and make independent evaluations on the development of these dry ports.
